The Kord Edge.
Kord provides a wide range of integrated aerospace services for complex systems to include the Space Launch System (SLS). We play a crucial role in development of core transportation capabilities for NASA’s journey to Mars and have extensive experience in rocket design, test, and development.
Our Integrated Capabilities
- Computational Fluid Dynamics
- Manufacturing & Production
- Mechanical Design
- Thermal, Stress, Fracture Modeling and Analysis
Our Major Efforts.
Space Launch System Kord’s propulsion experts, designers, analysts and manufacturing engineers are helping design, develop and test NASA’s next rocket that will take payloads and crew into deep space. Kord is a key contributor to the core stage and upper stage rocket development for the SLS program and supports operations at Marshall Space Flight Center and Michoud Assembly Facility. Our fully embedded experts in Integrated Product Teams are leading to reduced design times and improved products for NASA.
Advanced Aerospace Analysis Kord’s experts produce predictive tools to assist in the design and development of thermal protection systems for advanced propulsion concepts. An Ascent Venting (AV) model is used to improve the understanding of Earth to Orbit transients and enables better insulation system design for in-space cryogenic propellant systems. The AV model tracks the time history of the amount of gas trapped within multilayer insulation blankets to provide improved estimates of propellant boil-off.
Additionally, our SMEs have improved shock capturing schemes, advanced turbulence models, and higher order discretization schemes used by organizations such as NASA, the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force.
Where We Are Going.
From our first award-winning task, the establishment of the back-up Command Control Center for the International Space Station (NASA Group Achievement Award), Kord has been at the forefront of developing solutions for space exploration. We continue to advance NASA’s mission by applying our skills and expertise to developing rockets for deep-space, manned exploration.
